The Best Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread

Anyone that knows me, knows that I LOVE chocolate. I’m an addict I can admit it. However, this addiction and an abundance of very ripe bananas in my house led me to create the best chocolate banana bread. Another plus about this recipe: it’s vegan, refined sugar free, and you can make it gluten free. It’s also extremely easy to make, read below for instructions!



  • 1 1/4 cups flour (can use gluten free if you wish)
  • 1 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened 
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 bananas, very ripe
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips 
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil 
  • 1/2 cup of water 
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar 



  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a loaf pan with wax paper
  2. In a large bowl add the dry ingredients, minus the chocolate chips, and mix them together
  3. In a medium sized bowl add the bananas and mash them with a fork
  4. Add the rest of the wet ingredients to the medium bowl and mix them together 
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix well  
  6. Fold the chocolate chips into the batter
  7. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and put it in the oven for 40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean from the center of the bread
