About Our Fabric: ECONYL
Hey BFAW Babes! If you’re here you know how important sustainability is to us; it’s everything! So, I wanted to go a little more in depth about our fabric with you so you know exactly how amazing it really is.
All of our suits are made from a regenerated nylon called ECONYL. ECONYL is a really awesome fabric because it’s regenerated from waste taken from landfills and the ocean. More specifically it’s made from plastic, such as discarded fishing nets, that are endangering marine life.
Going beyond the normal recycling process, ECONYL uses regeneration which ensures that the fabric is exactly the same as virgin raw nylon, without the negative environmental effects. This also means that ECONYL has like-new qualities and can be infinitely recycled and recreated into new products. Which is why we created our recycling program!
With our recycling program, we take your old suit, make sure it gets recycled properly (so it avoids the landfill), and give you a credit back for a new suit. Ending the cycle of fashion pollution.
To put the impact of ECONYL into numbers, for every 10,000 tons of ECONYL material made, it spares 57,100 tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere and 70,000 barrels of crude oil from being used.
Every detail that goes into our suits is intentionally as eco-friendly as possible. Help us clean the ocean and save marine life with our sustainable suits!
